Estepona's dining scene changes fast, especially between the old town's flower streets and the harbour. We keep this entry updated with the openings we have actually eaten at, so you get a short honest list rather than a directory. Ask us on arrival and we will book the table for you.
This seasonEstepona's Ruta de Murales adds large-scale artworks each year, and the old town's planted streets are repainted every spring.
The Ruta de Murales spreads across residential facades throughout the town, and the old town's whitewashed lanes are refreshed with new pots and paint before the summer season. A slow morning walk from Calle Piña through Calle Flores and Plaza de las Flores takes about forty minutes with coffee stops.
All yearThe Orchidarium's glass domes sit a few minutes from the flower streets and stay open through the year.
Estepona's Orchidarium is one of the largest collections of its kind in Europe and is an easy rainy-day option. Parque de las Mesas, roughly a kilometre from the apartment, gives you shade, running paths and views back over the town.
All yearEstepona's main feria falls in the first half of July, with daytime celebrations in the old town and evenings at the fairground.
Expect horses, flamenco dress and live music in the centre during the day, then the recinto ferial after dark. Around it, the summer runs on beach chiringuitos, open-air cinema and concerts along the promenade. Book direct with us early — feria week fills first.
SummerThe weekly street market near the harbour is the easiest place for produce, ceramics and linen.
Mornings only, and best before eleven. Bring cash and a basket. On Sundays the port hosts a smaller flea and craft market instead.
All yearThe Senda Litoral boardwalk continues to link Estepona's beaches, so you can walk from El Cristo towards the centre without leaving the shore.
From the apartment it is a three-minute walk down to Playa del Cristo, and from there the boardwalk and promenade carry you east past the port towards Playa de la Rada and the town centre in around thirty minutes.
All yearEstepona switches on an elaborate light installation in the old town, and winter days often sit in the high teens.
Winter is our quietest, cheapest season and one of the best times to have the terrace to yourself. Expect long lunches, empty beaches and the old town lit up from late November.
